Slimpy

This is a server for the Slimp3 network music player that I've been writing on and off for a couple of years, partly because I didn't care too much for their own software (and I don't like Perl), and partly because it's fun. It's written in Java and runs on pretty much any platform with J2SE v1.4.1 or later, but I only test it on Windows XP and Linux.

A feature list, for what it's worth:

• Works with Slimp3s with firmware v1.2 or later. The Slimp3 user interface is a bit different from Slimdevices' version.
• Web user interface.
• Support for other network players that can read Shoutcast streams (Winamp, Windows Media Player, iTunes, XMMS etc), with control via the Web UI.
• Support for iTunes music sharing (the Slimpy server can appear to local iTunes users as a shared library using the DAAP protocol)
• Maintains a browseable and searchable database of the music.
• Optional playback synchronization between players

Slimpy is distributed under the GNU General Public License. For convenience, the archives below contain some third party software which is licensed seperately.

• Download the latest version, in tar-gzip or zip format.
